Shades & Whispers Type: Open(Public) Species: Any species is allowed! Setting: Set in the post-apocalyptic world Date Started: 5/2/2013 Date In Game: 11/28/2568- Yes it's set in the friggen future so what? Description: N/A- I don't want to spoil it yet, just read my rp ROLE-PLAY LINE The soft fall of rain hitting against the broken streets, the towering skyscrapers that rose high above the earth. Not a sound can be heard through this rain, but that doesn't matter when there is nothing to make any noise. This is Earth. You don't believe me? You should.
Ten years ago, I leaped through these fields well feed and free of worry. Human technology buzzed and whirred through the air, beasts that flew followed particular sections in the sky, the humans drove these. I only heard of it spoken once among the forest creatures, they called them 'Flying Cars'.
Humans were not the only Alphas that lived here on our Earth. Others that stood on two legs and wore hard, shiney, rock lived among them. I saw some wander through our forest many many years ago. He was rather large with split jaws that widened and splayed every time he took a breath. This one wore blue tinted shiny rock on his back. He even wore something on his head that covered his beady slit eyes. The birds spoke of these as the greater species, the Elite Superior.
Then that day came. The Superior brought sticks that blasted fire into the Human cities. Their soldiers flitted through the wood of my home and bated until night came. Those many nights they waited in the wood were horrid. The Superior soldiers swung swords that glowed an intense hue of blue. The Superior destroyed everything as they ramaged through this world, in they end the human force brought great orbs to strike down the Superior. I had been watching quietly when it happened. A blinding flash and then the wind so great I was knocked from my feet and thrown back. The sound made me deaf.
Upon waking my ears rung, and everywhere it was black. Smoke and flames carefully crawled between stone to reach out for wood or grass. I was surprised I had not caught aflame myself.
I began to pad towards the city, intent on seeing what exactly had happened. All around me were pieces of human and Superior technology that sparked and hissed, wires snapping too and fro. He licked between his sore pads, long tongue dipping into where glass and rubble had cut between the delicate spaces of his hand. Finished he spread his hand to look at the damage, of course it was impossible to tell now. His feet and hands had grown scaps over where he was constantly cut. Taking an edgy breath through his long, thin maw; he cast a look up. Greenish eyes taking in the green tinted skies. Ten years, he thought. Ten years and still I have yet to see a single living soul, human or Zepharian.
{Zepharian Information}Founded as an official species in 2142, the Zepharian was recorded to be a forty to sixty foot long snake-like creature. Most of these animals were black and sported tall crests. They were deemed an Endangered Species as they were never seen before that year, but traces of these strange creatures had been found all over the world. A scientist by the name of Lee Oswald had been the first to encounter the Zepharian in 2148. He testified that a huge creature that stood almost as high as a two story building 'meekly' approached him, allowing Oswald to touch the beasts nose, or beak.
Oswald went on to write a book on his experience, studies, and hypotheses on the creatures.
The first Zepharian that was captured for the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago was caught in 2154, she was named Lady Sef. The first Zepharian to be born in a zoo was in the Brookfield Zoo where Lady Sef gave birth to a piebald colored male in 2173.

She rummaged through the debris, hoping that food would lie somewhere amongst it. She stuffed her nose in and flipped over some leaves before she dug softly, the rest of the leaves getting stuck on her sharp claws. She growled lightly as she made her way to the bottom and found nothing. She shook her head and climbed her small tree, more of just a perching place. Her tail slowly flicked back and forth ever so slightly, in irritation. It had been three days since her last meal, a mouse on the verge of starvation itself. Her golden eyes scanned the area. As she suspected, there was nothing. No food, no life, she was alone with her thoughts. She yawned, beyond tired. She was too hungry to sleep, too tired to hunt with more than minimal effort.
She was only three years old, yet her mother was gone, her father had never been around. She was completely by herself, she couldn't even find a mate if she wanted. Not that she would have the energy for children, but it might make finding food easier. Or harder, but it was just one of those things she would be willing to take the risk on.
She spun her head quickly, her peripheral vision having caught a slight movement on a blade of grass. She jumped silently to the ground, crouching close so that her belly almost touched the dirt. She pounced with lightening speed and chomped, soon figuring out it was a beetle. She ate it regardless, she was not picky in desperate times. Her whole life she had been struggling to get food. Her mother told her of her grandmother, who had witnessed the epic battle between creatures called Humans and Superiors. She held a hatred for those creatures she had never met, for they were what caused her trouble in life.
She scoured the ground and found few insects, all of which she masticated with her canines. She heard a bristling in the trees an looked up, her ears alert as well. She slowly looked around for the source of the noise, as it was not the wind or her imagination, that she knew. She closed her eyes into slits, becoming extremely cautious and nervous. She hissed out a long, angry snarl. Before she could react she felt pads smash against her shoulder and she crashed into the dirt. She hissed as she looked up at the animal that now had her pinned.

Jahall'kehdron padded towards the towering building. It was the highest of the skyscrapers, it was his home. Despite the creaking and groaning of the building as it swayed in the harsh winds; he knew it was a dangerous place to live but he had nowhere else. A human structure was the last place another male of his kind would come to claim as territory. Jahall'kehdron did not care for territory claim; Earth was huge and Zepharian's could live for hundreds of years, so why fight for something that another would have after he was dead anyway? Jahall nudged the metal door aside with his snout, making sure to test the air in the building. He did not want to find himself in a situation he did not need to be in. With a small snort he slid the rest of the way in through the six foot high door. It was a squeeze for him, but at the end of the day he would be safe. A twist in his lower body told him that food was to be found soon. The Zepharian had not eaten in nearly two weeks, and it was beginning to show through his hide.
"A pleasure to find you my son." A sudden voice grated from up above him. Jahall looked up to see his father, a huge black mass coiled over the side of the second floor, tail tip twitching in amusement. "I thought I had smelt you when I came in here." Jahall nodded and padded up the stairs towards Yerw'kehsora, that was his fathers name at least.
"How did you find me so easy, paya?" Jahall asked; sharp claws digging into the wall as he hefted himself towards the barely trickling fountain on the third floor. A low purr could be heard behind the young male as his father dug his own claws into the floor.
"It is not hard to smell your mother in your blood. You should heal your wounds unless you wish to attract predators."
"Predators?" Jahall began to laugh, low and loud. "Father have you gone mad? We are the largest things that live upon this world! We have no predators, because we are the predators." Gold eyes glared into Jahall's green ones.
"Don't be naive, Jahall'kehdron." His father hissed, why he said his son's name at it's full? It was to intimidate the young brute. "The Superior will be back someday to claim this tiny realm. They will bring their most feared creatures to kill us off, I know it. I have seen it done before. The humans called them invasive speciesss." The last word was drawn out in a hiss as Yerw scratched at an old cut.
"But the Superior have not been back in ten years. Why would they want to come now?" Jahall asked, his previous behavior all but gone.
This time it was Yerw's turn to give Jahall the sad, confused, and worried look. A look that was rare on his fathers snout. "I do not know, my son. I wish I did, but the Superior are beings of other worlds."
Just so it's clear! This is the way you pronounce all those big names and stuff. xD Also, I have another spoiler for you to look at! Yay!
Jahall'kehdron:JA-HALL KAY-DrrON ((You have to role those two r's.)) Yerw'kehsora: YOU-R-EW KAY-SORE-A Zepharian: ZEF-ARE-E-AN
{Jahall Description, Height and Length}Jahall'kehdron was in his prime, he was in his late fifties and of age to take a mate, that did not mean he wanted one. Male Zepharian's often waited until they were deep in the throes of their prime, when their colour was brightest and their body fittest. Males also tended to be smaller than females at this age, though Jahall's father had been large even at this age, so Jahall looked much older than he actually was. Standing on his well muscled back legs he was at the height of three full stories, on all fours Jahall'kehdron was fifty eight feet long.

"Danter?" She asked hesitantly as she looked up at the only male she had ever seen of her species. "What? How?" She frowned as him as he chuckled and jumped off her. She stood up and licked her shoulder a little. "That was not cool, by the way. I thought I was going to die. What are you doing back here. I thought you left to find a mate, that you would 'never be back' as you said yourself." She looked at him smugly as she waited for his answer.
"Yes, well, I decided that the other females just weren't right for me, Aphrena. You know we could have been something, if only you had tried a little harder, or wanted it a little more. You know I loved you, I guess I never stopped. Took me forever to find you though. You really are one tough cat to track." He smiled at her before cleaning his paws.
"Yeah, well, I am still alive because of it. I wasn't ready back then. However, I do miss my hunting partner. It has become increasingly difficult to find food, you know. Maybe my mother was right when she left but I just couldn't make myself leave. This place has always been my home and I couldn't imagine leaving. I don't know if I would leave or starve, I love it so much." She sighed as she sat back on her haunches.
"You were always so sentimental. You need to be logical. If it doesn't serve a purpose for you, then leave. There is no use in sticking around if you'll just end up dying. You might as well leave for a year and just come back to visit every once in a while. That way you can still remember it and you won't die. Everything is well then." Danter explained, trying to get her to change her mind. The whole reason he had found her was to take her away, so they could be together in a more food-plentiful place.

"You may stay... I'll be back in a bit." Jahall'kehdron growled to his father before squeezing back out of the revolving door. As soon as he was outside he was walking on his heels, and the damp air hit his elongated snout. The Zepharian sighed and began to ease towards the wood. He had long left that place in search of somewhere safe. Somewhere covered where the chemicals from the human and Superior war would not harm his delicate skin. Silently padding towards it, doing his best to avoid the sharp bits on the old pavement.
"Jahall! Listen! You will never learn how to call magic if you don't listen to what I'm telling you right now!" A delicate, narrow, and pale face looked down at him as he grinned up. "Maya, will I be like paya! I can be strong and fierce like paya!" Jahall purred, doing his best to puff his narrow chest out. The female covered a small chuckle, her little hatchling was strong spirited. She worried for him though, he never listened very well.
"Of course you'll be like your paya, just like I'm like my maya." She purred, lowering her snout to rub on his. He was so much smaller than she, but he would grow, she knew of that. Jahall stopped at the edge of the forest, wary, sage eyes flashing through the overgrowth. He was apprehensive about walking into the forest, blindly. He forgot many of the trails in these woods as they changed with time, and ten years was enough for everything to look, smell, and taste differently. Cautiously taking a step into the wood he slid in with silence and utter ease. So the hunt would begin, begin where though? He stopped as he looked through the branches with half-lidded eyes, he was hungry and weak, and he needed to catch something large enough to feed his frail father and himself. Jahall summoned the best of his strength as he hauled himself onto his back legs, forearms reaching out against a thick oak. As his needle like claws sank into the wood he gave a growl of pleasure, something large had been in this tree and he could smell it. Flicking his tongue out to taste the scent he could feel his mouth water. Oh yes! Father will be very happy! A Reidrian! What a treat!
{Reidrian Information Article}Reidrian: RE-ID-RE-AN
Reidrian's were acknowledged as a species of animal related to rhinos. They are in the same family but sport very different features. Reidrian's tend to be tree dwelling herbivores that are heavy in weight.
Reidrian's were discovered in 2289 by zoologist Amanda Kelpers when she stumbled upon a juvenile that had fallen during a serious storm. She mistaked the juvenile for a full grown adult, it died days later due to food poisoning when it was taken into care.
In 2296 another zoologist out in the North American woodland found a pod of Reidrian, taking pictures and sending them to the local zoo. Government officials interested in this bizarre creature had an adult captured and taken to study.
Some of the notes taken by Dr. Clienfelsh are reported in this document:
[Height: @ about eighteen' tall, height can vary, largest we've seen is about 22'30" Weight: i'm not even sure how they can hold in trees but they do, they weight about 4 hundred to 6 hundred pounds Aggressive: rather docile, doesn't seem to fear humans Eating Habits: a herbivore mostly, but we have seen a few eating small animals like squirrels. Hunted: yes, drakess zephrians seem to take a liking to the flesh of this animal, i'm surprised that the Reidrian numbers are increasing not decreasing Hierarch: females rule the pod Mating: they mate for life, father takes care of the young for the most part Gestation Period: 16 months, another reason why we are confused on how they seem to be increasing in numbers not decreasing. Additional Notes: Reidrian's stay to the thicker woods, some have begun being seen towards cities, they enjoy climbing up the sides of buildings, which can be a humorous sight to see. They have hooked claws that are usually rather long, stains on the claws indicate that they often penetrate through tree bark, and ridges indicate that rocks and clearly buildings are also something they can scale. Tusks on either side of the face, not to forget the beaked mouth and horned nose.]

"Well I guess that makes sense. But, Danter, there is so much history here." She whispered as she frowned at the ground.
"Yes, terrible, hungry, cold nights where we were hunted. Oh the memories! Weren't they just awful." Danter looked at her with a 'really' face. He didn't understand why she would want to stay. This place had only painful, awful memories for him besides her being in them. He was not fond of this place at all, no matter to him that he was born there.
"Okay, but we had some good times too." She sighed, knowing it was pointless to try to get him to change his mind. Her eight foot tail began to swipe back and forth across the ground, in aggravation. She stood up and started to walk away, choosing her all fours. She was about 10 feet long, without her tail.
Danter was 14 feet long and his tail was 12 feet long. The Orcentials always had tails that were 2 feet shorter than their bodies, no one knew why. They look very similar to their cousins, the Ocelots, hence their name. Humans thought that an Ocelot had been in a radioactive accident and morphed to become larger. A very untrue theory, but it was still what they thought for many years until they encountered a few more. Despite their large size, their nutritional needs were surprisingly low. They needed a meal a week, if the meal was about the size of a full grown buck.

Jahall lifted his thin snout into the air, flashing his tongue out for a fresh scent of the Reidrian. West, his brain hissed as he swung his massive head in that direction. The Zepharian stuck a clawed hand out as he reached for the next branch, long tail wrapping around the tree he was moving away from incase a branch broke. Easing his long yet lightweight body into the next tree, he tasted the air again. The scent was relatively fresh, and he wondered what the Reidrian had been doing so close to the broken city.
Moving to the next tree the stench of blood hit him. Opening his mouth to save the smell; he growled, sending a wary glance to the skies above. Something else was hunting his Reidrian... This time he leapt to the next tree, just high enough to see the flash of the thick grey hide of the creature he stalked. Jahall's instincts took over from there as he slithered down to look at it, finding it to already be dead. Uneasy spiked down his spine as he took a tentative sniff of the carcass.
It smelled fine, that is except for the huge wound that bore down it's side. He almost sent a look at his back claws to register if it had been another Zepharian, but deep in his gut he knew it was not. Even the raptor like claws that grew from a Zepharian's back feet, they almost never attacked with their back appendages. He moved a hand to feel the skin around the wound, it was swollen and inflamed, which was not unusual.
Then a skree from high above alerted the focused Zepharian. A beast with an elongated maw like his own, and wide wings folded in as it dove towards him. Zekiarian, his mind groaned as it crashed into the branches above, clawing its way down to the carcass. Jahall jumped back with a sharp hiss, his forearm coming out to slash at the Zekiarian's throat, of course he missed though, his arms were much shorter than his neck and he sometimes forgot that.
"ZOOKU ARIN!!! MINEEE!!" It roared, it's crest suddenly flashing from a dull black to a colorful red. Jahall growled and snapped angrily, he would not lose this carcass because of an arrogant Zekiarian. He pondered on the words of the beast so that he could properly translate his language to this idiotic beast.
"Mu fii'et! I found it, zooku arin! Mine!" He snapped, his body coiled as it prepared for an attack but the attack never came as the Zekiarian looked more startled than angry.
"Zooku mu. Yours." It shuddered before clawing back into the air, wide wings catching the air with ease. Jahall watched it in wonder, what had just happened?
Just so we are clear, Zekiarian's don't often come down to the ground to eat. They also do not speak with Zepharian's all that much though they do indeed share the same skies. A Zepharian that knows how to speak in Zekiarian tongue is often regarded as a respected 'Other' as they call the opposite species.
Zooku: ZOO-COO ~ Mine or yours Arin: ARE-IN ~This MU: MOO ~ I or you Fii'et: FEE-ET ~ Found Paya: PIE-YA ~ Father Maya: MY-A ~ Mother

As a young teenage girl walked along the treeline, she fixed an old blanket around her head and face and then allowed the blanket to drape over her small, thin body. She walked to a secluded area of the wood and sat down after removing the blanket off of her. Her deep red hair tumbled down to her knees as it was released from it restraints. She looked up at the sky with her dark amethyst eyes before leaning her head back on a tree. Sighing softly, she closed her eyes while swearing that she heard her name being called. "Bella-Rose... Bella-Rose..."

Danter followed her, bumping her lightly with his shoulder. "Come on. I know it would be hard, but there is literally nothing here." Danter explained as he looked around at the seemingly never-ending forest. He knew she was no where near the rubble of the 'Forbidden City' as the Orcentials called it. He knew she had never seen it, nor did she feel a want to go investigate it. He also knew he would have to take her through it to get to the more resourceful lands, which she would probably hate him for. "I know you're hungry. Let me show you a place where there is little worry about what your next meal will be." He said softly, knowing he was partially lying. It was hard to find food everywhere they went.
Aphrena turned around with a scowl on her face before she sighed. She was too hungry and tired to fight. Her stomach growled in agreement for her leaving. "Fine, if this place really has food I guess I will go." She grew slightly nervous, she had never left this forest in her entire life, not even when her mother gave her the ultimatum. The ultimatum that ripped her life into pieces. Her mother or the forest. She shook her head sadly, partially wishing she had chosen her mother.

Jahall jerked his neck back as he dragged the carcass of the Reidrian out of the forest. He had found it hard enough to drag the heavy beast through narrow trees, now he had to find a way to get it through the streets without leaving a clear trail of blood. Stopping he sat on his haunches, the thirteen foot difference between his legs could be clearly seen as he sat. He folded his forearms close to his chest as he looked around him.
He was sure nothing was here to follow the scent anyway but he still had to be cautious. Eyeing the Reidrian he felt his stomach twist again, this time more violently than a few hours before. With the sight of food it was hard to resist the tempting smell. Lowering back down on his forearms he moved his head towards the belly of the creature, flicking his tongue out against the rough skin. Jahall's jaws opened just a bit as they watered over the smell, but he wondered if he should respect his honor and bring the kill to his father or take his fill now.
The Zepharian took a huge breath as he thought on it. Perhaps he could call his father from here? The bigger question was if his father would even be able to hear him from here? Jahall's tail whipped back and forth in irritation, he was too weak to drag this five hundred pound beast to the middle of the city, besides if he left who knows what might get at it with him not guarding it, not to mention that this fat animal would never make it through the human opening into the building. Finally he raised his head into the air and sent a shrill sqree from his maw.
The silence that had once coated the city was now pierced by his cry. Human would have run at this sound but other animals familiar with Zepharian hunting patterns would come wandering towards it, the sound meant food. Jahall lowered his head back down to the Reidrian, eyes half closed as he worked his throat; it had been a long time since he had called like that. A sudden screech echoed his and he raised his head again. Looking behind him a black line curled between the buildings, moving through the air like water; Jahall could not help the envy that rose in his chest. He still could not summon magic to take flight without wings.
Yrew landed with a hard thud, which had Jahall backing from the Reidrian immediately. If his father had landed that loudly then he must be very weak. "How did you find this? I have not seen these in... in yearss." His father hissed, cautiously moving towards the Reidrian.
"Luck found it, father." Jahall said, a low purr starting in his chest. Yrew looked towards his son and nodded, then looking back at the carcass he extended his forearm to test the flesh. "It was dead when I found it, I believe that something else took it down but I was too focused on the catch to remember the other scent." Yrew growled as he discovered the wound deeply embedded into the flesh.
"It looks like a clawed creature, something like us." Yrew said as his snout dipped in between the flesh and he pulled a thin strip of muscle from the wound, raising his head up to swallow it.
"Yes, something like us." Jahall echoed, watching as his father devoured his fill.

Danter smiled and turned in the direction which he came. "It's this way, not super far." He said as he jogged along, moving faster than normal, his tail raised most of the way, indicating his happy, care-free mood. It meant he was not on the prowl and any creatures, however few, were safe.
Aphrena watched Danter as she tried to keep up with his pace. It was a little fast for her, to be honest. She kept up the best she could, though her tail was twitching and held close to her and the ground. She was clearly anxious and alert. She was partially on the lookout for food, a good meal could postpone her trip for another few days. She looked both ways as she followed along, soon realizing she was in a new area.
She looked ahead and saw grey, just grey and black. She was confused as she looked forward. She immediately lifted her paw and hissed in response to the ground change. She had no idea what it was, but it was definitely not the forest floor. She looked at the change between the grass and the grey, so sudden. She looked at Danter, who had realized a little late that she had stopped. He was already several feet ahead, all fours on the grey. She watched as he urged her to come on.
She placed her paw down again and again lifted it, disliking the feeling. She closed her eyes for a moment and ran across it, trying to get over it as quickly as possible. She didn't open her eyes until she felt the dirt again. She looked at Danter, who was smiling encouragingly. She ignored him and walked on, pissed off that he had left the fact that they had to travel through the 'Forbidden City'. She looked around and growled as she saw, smelt, heard nothing, no prey. She looked over and Danter was calmly climbing a tree.
She growled at him and hissed, furious. "Where is this prey?" She whispered angrily. "I don't see, hear, or smell anything. Just the same as my home. I swear if you made me travel all the way here for nothing I will-"
"Shh, hush my dearest. I understand you're angry but just climb that tree and wait, okay? You have to trust me on this one." He crouched into a nook of the tree and prepared to pounce.
She rolled her eyes as she climbed the nearby tree. She waited impatiently until she saw a flash of blue. She began to pay close attention and got into an attack position as she saw the gold, purple, green, and blue of the Tesnrialterar. She began to salivate as Danter attacked at the precise moment and took it to the ground. It let out a long screech and struggled with him.
She jumped down, swiping at strategic moments. It looked at her with it's red irises full of fear. She felt bad and took a mercy bite, injecting her poison into its jugular. Soon its eyelids fluttered and she bowed her head as she prayed to Onchura, the Orcentials goddess. She began to feast along with Danter.
Orcentials (OR-C-N-TALLS) have two poison fang teeth right beside their canines. They are used to inject their prey with a neurotoxin that kills nearly instantly. Though Orcentials do not use it often it is their most effective way of killing. This is one of the reasons the Humans thought that the Ocelots were in a radioactive accident.
Tesnrialterars (TES-N-RI-ALTER-ERS) are a bird creature, about the size of an Killer whale. Their wingspan is usually 26 feet. Their feathers are blue, with gold tips at the end of the wing feathers and purple tips at the end of the tail feathers. They have small green feathers on their head which normally form in the shape of a home base (Baseball base)

Jahall raised his lips as he scented the air, was he slowly going insane or had that been the sound of a dying animal. Yrew had heard it too because he raised his head from his curled position next to the meatless skeleton of the Reidrian. "That sounded like..." Yrew stopped as his head swiveled towards Jahall.
"A Tesnrialterar?" Jahall asked, sage eyes directed towards the sky suddenly. His father began to unwrap himself from his coiled spot as he scented the air, maw opened wide as he sucked the air in. The sound had been distant and if blood had truly been spilled than the smell would soon fill the winds. Jahall did the same as he heave up onto his back legs. Excitement pulsed through the young Zepharian's blood now, was it possible that something other than he and his father lived?
"Jahall, perhaps we should go back to the building and find whatever it is in the morning." His father growled from his side, gold eyes tilted up to look at his towering offspring. Jahall slit his mouth open as he tasted the air, unable to pick anything up. Lowering back down to four feet he looked at his father, only then realizing just how much rest the older male needed.
"Paya, you may go back, but I want to see what happened." Jahall hissed, his neck swelling a little to threaten his father into submission. He was not a hatch anymore, he could take care of himself. Yrew's neck began to swell, his gold eyes holding a dangerous look inside of them, but the old male saw the strength that had returned to his son, and his neck deflated.
"Be safe then, son." He growled before, his claws could be heard scrabbling through the rubble as he looked for a high perch to get into the air. Jahall watched, his head tilted so that his crest formed the vertical like wall when males were warning other males, though his father was older and wiser, Jahall knew that everything must learn from mistakes. Mistakes were needed to gain wisdom.
Padding towards the last of the sound, Jahall flicked out his tongue again, eager to catch the scent of something. Still, the damp moisture of an oncoming storm and the smell of rotting wood filled his senses, a small dab of blood filled the air, but the Zepharian knew that was most likely the Reidrian. He picked up the pace as he trotted, his mind mapping out where the sound most likely originated from.
Jahall caught sight of something and he froze; freezing like this was a natural Zepharian mechanism to make it seem stone like, and with all the statues of their kind dotting the human city he could seem like one. He slowly turned his elongated head to look at the two creatures more clearly. His mind sputtered for a moment, this was not something he had seen before. If anything they looked like huge cats with lengthy tails, two of them stood over the blue Tesnrialterar.
Jahall pondered making his presence known but decided against it. They would probably sense him soon enough, he was massive and most creatures these days were much more aware than they had been many years ago. Flicking his tongue out he identified them as a male and female, the Tesnrialterar had been male, hence the intense bright colors of his plume. Observing the two animals he almost envied them, at least they looked in better condition than himself, and what a lucky catch too. It looked like they had used teamwork.

Danter ate greedily, not sure where his next meal would come from. His maw was covered in blood, it staining the white of his cheeks and whiskers. He noticed not the creature watching them, his senses overwhelmed by his meal. He looked at Aphrena for a moment, and saw the look in her eyes, relief.
Aphrena ate as much as she could as quickly as possible. She knew that creatures would most likely not attack two others but hunger makes minds do crazy things. She sniffed the air, just a precautionary measure. She smelt a strange being, something that was definitely alive and definitely near. She whipped her head around, scanning everything with her eyes. She stopped as she looked at stone, a strange stone. She hissed lightly, she had never seen a stone such as this before. She watched it closely, scanning every part of it. She eventually made her way to the top and, after a few minutes, realized it had eyes.
Aphrena jumped up and snarled at it, unsure what it was. She knew it was alive, her sense of smell was one of the best among creatures. Her hearing was even better, her eyesight the best. She slowly approached it, having Danter stop what he was doing and follow her. She stopped about 15 feet before it and looked at it with curiosity and apprehension.
Danter looked at the statue and rolled his eyes. Aphrena was so naïve, with no experiences. "It's just a statue. Let's eat before something real comes." He growled as he went back and continued his feast.
Aphrena refused to move. She knew it was living, she didn't care what the cocky Danter said. She sniffed and whispered, "Your name?"

Jahall stayed still as the she-cat hissed out words that actually sounded like his language. He was surprised and in awe, how had she recognized that he was living when he bore no heat? Carefully and very slowly his massive head turned ninety degrees to the right so that a bright sage eye was looking down at her.
"Jahall'kehdron." He hissed quietly, a soft noise that could be mistaken for wind if one did not listen carefully enough. Then he did an unexpected thing as a rumbling noise erupted from his chest, a deep purr was emitted.

She stared at him, wondering his species. She knew not of many kinds of creatures. She looked back at Danter, he was still unaware of the moving of the 'statue'. "I am Aphrena. What species are you? I have never encountered one of your kind. How do you freeze like that? I could barely sense you, but your eyes are distinctive. It actually took me a few minutes to notice them." She said as she returned a slight purr.
